This month ELLE launches Stylephile: the chance for you to question our cover stars and featured celebrities. When did you know you were famous?
When my grandmother sent me a clipping of my name in a crossword puzzle.

Most ridiculous rumour you’ve read about yourself recently?
That Zach Braff and I were snuggling and staring romantically into each other’s eyes in a wine bar. That made me laugh out loud – it was the first time we’d met, and we were talking about a move he’s directing.

Night out of choice?
A dive bar complete with jukebox and whiskey mac.

Great night in?
Stella McCartney’s house in the country. Once our kids are asleep it’s ‘grab the wine’, and talk turns to boys and husbands, and who’s shagging who.

What do you look for in a friend?
Sincerity, laughter and loyalty.

Trait you most despise in men?
Rudeness and lack of manners – but leaving socks on the floor isn’t grounds for a break-up.

Most treasured possession in your wardrobe?
A Loro Piana camel hat that I bought in London. I wear it almost every day.

Guilty pleasure?
Knickers. I go pretty bonkers in Coco de Mer.

The dress that got away?
An Ossie Clark empire-line dress I tried on 12 years ago.

Most stylish person you know?
Kate Moss. I love playing dress-up with her and her closet.

What are you wearing today?
My favourite plaid Isabel Marant all-in-one, fluffy booties from Topshop, a Chloé peacoat and a hat by Stella McCartney for Gap. It’s very chilly in Shreveport [Louisiana, where Tyler is filming her new movie, Super]!

How beautiful are you?
Right now, not very. I’m fighting a sinus infection and a pimple.

What do you see when you look in the mirror?
Bright blue eyes and dark circles.

What makes you jealous?
Sleeping in.

Best party you’ve ever been to?
My son Milo’s fifth birthday party. Jumping on a bouncy castle has got to be the best exercise.

When did you last lose your temper?
When two paparazzi jumped out from behind a tree while I was hiking in Griffith Park.

When did you last cry?
On the set of Super during a love scene with Rainn Wilson.

Favourite movie character of all time?
Brigitte Bardot as Camille Javal in Contempt.

Favourite song lyric?
‘Love is like a stove, burns you when it’s hot’ – by Gram Parsons.

Most memorable gig?
Seeing Kiss with my mum when I was three. I remember being really scared of the band’s boots.

Heels or flats?
Barefoot.

Wisdom or beauty?
Can’t we have both?

Your story in two words?
Very complicated.

What’s the best advice you’ve even been given?
Follow your heart and never go quietly.

What do you want to do before you die?
Live on a farm with chickens, a vegetable garden, and a John Deere tractor.

In an online poll back in October we asked you, our readers, who you would most like to see on the cover of ELLE. Your answer? Liv Tyler.
And we weren’t surprised. The Incredible Hulk star is one of Hollywood’s most celebrated natural beauties. Born to rock’n’roll royalty (the love child of singer and Playboy Playmate Bebe Buell and Aerosmith’s leading man Steven Tyler), she started modelling aged 14, moved into acting with 2004 thriller Silent Fall, and has been on our girl crush list ever since she played Corey Mason in teen cult classic Empire Records. Here’s a sneak peek at what she has to say about fame, friends and fashion…

When your dearest pals are Kate Moss and Stella McCartney, who needs a stylist?

Liv Tyler, who appears on the March cover of British Elle says she relies on her girlfriends when it comes to matters of the heart–and of the closet. For old-fashioned, girly gossip, she heads to McCartney’s house in the English countryside. “Once our kids are asleep it’s ‘grab the wine’, and talk turns to boys and husbands,” she says. When not dishing with Stella, the 32-year-old actress can be found in the equally glamorous company of buddy Kate Moss. “I love playing dress-up with her and her closet,” she says of her sartorially gifted friend.

But nothing compares to spending time with her all time BFF: 5-year-old son Milo, whose recent birthday bash she cites as the best party ever, and what sounds like the most fun fitness routine ever: “Jumping on a bouncy castle has got to be the best exercise!” Look out for the March issue of British Elle on sale February 3. -Monique Jessen

She is one of Hollywood’s most glamorous actresses, but LIv Tyler has confessed that she would rather be living in the British countryside and driving a tractorving in the British countryside and driving a tractor.

The star of The Lord of the Rings trilogy said she yearned for the rural life. “Before I die I want to live on a farm with chickens, a vegetable garden and a John Deere tractor,” said Tyler, referring to the agricultural equipment manufacturer.

She hopes to find a country home similar to that owned by her friend, Stella McCartney, the fashion designer who rears sheep and grows organic vegetables at her Georgian pile in in Gloucestershire.

The McCartney home is Tyler’s favourite place to relax, she told Elle magazine. “A great night in? Stella McCartney’s house in the country. Once our kids are asleep it’s ‘grab the wine’ and take turns to talk boys and husbands.”

Tyler, 32, the daughter of Aerosmith singer Steve Tyler, moved to Los Angeles in 2008 after separating from her British husband, Royston Langdon, a musician. They have a five-year-old son, Milo.

Langdon was born and brought up in Leeds, and Tyler enthusiastically embraced Yorkshire life when the couple married. Locals were amazed to spot her drinking in the local working men’s club in the suburb of Headingley and shopping in Safeway.

She remains a committed Anglophile and counts Kate Moss among her closest friends. She described the supermodel as “the most stylish person I know. I love playing dress-up with her and her closet.”

The 32-year-old model and actress said she always had a good time when she was with Moss.

‘Kate Moss. I love playing dress-up with her and her closet,’ she told Elle magazine.

But while she can rely on 36-year-old supermodel Moss for a fun evening, Tyler admits having famous friends does have its downsides when the press starts rumours.

She claims the most ridiculous tale she’s ever heard about herself was that she was seen ‘snuggling’ with 34-year-old Scrubs actor Zach Braff in a bar.

‘That made me laugh out loud – it was the first time we’d met and we were talking about a movie he’s directing,’ said the Lord Of The Rings actress, who is the daughter of Aerosmith rocker Stephen Tyler.

Under Nicolas Degennes brushes, artistic director of Givenchy Make-up, Liv Tyler, the actress with a charming smile, wears three make-ups which are up this summer. Sunny, sparkling or rock: find out these three glamorous faces.

Sunny like Romy:
Nicolas Degennes: “Like Romy Schneider in “La Piscine”, Liv has a glowing spontaneity that I translate with a moist skin effect and an utlra-tanned sun-tanning.”

- For a Santa Fe tan: Use a colorless powder as a base, then use a sun-tanning with a big brush. To “roast” the skin, use an orange blush above cheekbones. In bonus, it gives life to the sun-tanning.
- For a wet effect: The secret is to catch the light to stimulate the water reflection. A powder composed with white pearl will create the illusion on eyelids and shoulders. On lips, it’s a transparency gloss witch will do it. Though, we have to avoid too much pearl effect, too much glitter and not wet enough.

Sparkling like Tinkerbelle:
Nicolas Degennes: “Liv looks like an heroin of modern fairy-tales, I have stress on her lighting tan, her glance with a daring mix of pink on lips and orange nails.”

- For an aristocratic tan: Massage the skin with a base tan (or primer) it texture catches the light without any thickness. Exactly what we want in summer when we don’t want to be tanned.
- Strawberry-apricot duet: Uncoordinated lips and nails, it’s very modern. With your finger, smooth your lips with a pink lipstick, and lightened this look with a orange juicy nail polish.

Rock like Patti Smith:
Nicolas Degennes: “Liv is a rock child (her father is Steven Tyler, of Aerosmith rockband) with a crazy side that she completely assumes. In her private life, she sings a lot, she has a wonderful voice. I translate this with a strong glance and a blazing mouth.”

- For a dark glance: There is nothing better than a dark and greasy khôl, to put inside the eye, on the top like on the bottom. Be careful, it will trickle a little bit but it’s rock n’Roll. To avoid these streams, use a transparency powder on the lower eyelid. And put a lot of mascara on eyelashes.
- For the mouth: Orange. Put the lipstick with your finger to color your lips. Then correct the edges with a nude pen.
- To put a 80’s blush. Forget about the round healthy powder on the cheekbones, dig up the cheeks with brown blush, to put in diagonal from the hear to under the cheekbones.
